Courageous Community

The book of Joshua tells the story of the people of God on the move.  We see weaved into this story an intertwining of the elements of community, sin, covenant renewal, faith, deception, leadership, courage, victory, failure and transition.   In our recent fall 2011 emphasis: Life Together,  we sought to bring together the cultural ideas of community, the doctrine of the community of God, and the New Testament teaching that comes largely through propositions. Now, as we begin Courageous Community, Joshua takes us into another level of engagement through story.

We will seek to take the body of theological teaching from Life Together and marry it with the story of Courageous Community– with the earnest vision that we will become enraptured by both the theology of the community of God and the story of how it is lived in real life community.

Then we will see, sense and feel, that our future in the kingdom is ours to lay hold of in Christ.  We do so together, for the glory of Christ and the good of the soul, as we lay hold of land, hearts, cities, and families, and as we wipe tears, heal wounds, fill stomachs, enlighten minds and free captives in this now-but-not yet end times real life drama.
